Things have been not going my way lately. Namely a week ago my hard drive crashed.  You may recall me mentioning a hard drive replacement would be my next d.i.y macbook repair here.  Well, I let that get away from me and regret to inform you, dear reader, that I have lost some serious data.  Sads.  Among said lost data is the photographs of March’s Produce of the month (Asian pear, not my fav) so please excuse me for not giving it it’s own post.

Hardrdive Fail was then joined by Subaru Fail (the more staggering monetarily of the fails) which involves the rebuilding of my engine ($$$$).  That said, I’ll be going out less, working more, and maybe blogging more?(!?!?)  I’m really into the parenthetical today, eh?  Regardless, I’m trying to keep an air of serenity in the face of loss because that’s really all I can do.  Besides, I’m pretty sure acceptance is one of the final stages of grief, right?

Insert uplifting photograph here:

Thanks for stopping by to eat your heart out,

Retail sucks.  If you’ve never had the pleasure of working retail, you’re a lucky little boo.  Human beings are transformed into flesh melting monsters while shopping retail.  It’s terrifying.  Really.  I’ve decided to make a little photo documentation of my experiences here in Retail Land.  I guess I’m hoping for a little catharsis.  (Note: I’m PMSing like a mad banshee)

That last photo (of yours truly…) reminds me of Casper David Friedrich’s Rückenfigur landscape paintings.  Aaahhh!!  The sublime landscape of Retail Land.

Uggggg, it’s Monday and I’m sick with what must be some awful jungle illness. I’m passing the time by:

  • Drinking tasty loose leaf tea from Shang Tea, located just down the hall from me in Crown Center.
  • Planning an April trip to see House on the Rock, one of the most amazing tourist attractions ever conceived and then spending a day in nearby Madison, Wisconsin.

I plan to spend the majority of the week recovering, tonight may be an exception due to a good friend’s birthday.

I’m trying to stay upbeat despite working retail on President’s Day. Aiding my optimism are my big plans for this week:

  • Tonight St. Vincent plays at The Bottleneck in Lawrence.  I plan to be in attendance weather permitting.
  • I plan to sew a lingerie bag to protect my unmentionables whilst being laundered.  (Especially my new totally adorable high waisted panties from etsy.com that should be coming in the mail any day now.)
  • This week kicks off my personal campaign to be less of a dumb American by gaining a better grasp of the metric system.
