Ahh, wintertime. Time for much needed resting and nesting. Especially nesting since I moved (AGAIN) last August. And while the hanging of art and perfect placement of all our shit is a constant game of musical chairs, things are finally coming together.
It’s cluttered and and sort of awkwardly tall. Kind of like me. I adore it, really. Eat your hearts out.
Did I go over a month without posting a single thing here? Yes, yes I did. But I have really good excuses. I’ll tell you all about them:
I moved to a new place! The old place had charm, but it also had vermin-friends living in the ceiling/walls and an asshole landlord. C’est la vie. My new place has AMENITIES, not the least of which is a jacuzzi tub(!!!). Unpacking has been slow and painful since the new place has a fraction of the storage space the old place did, but the end is in sight. Regardless, the packing/moving/unpacking has been keeping me very occupied (not to mention those pesky jobs eating up my blogging time). More photos to come as the place comes together.
Besides the move I’ve managed to take some photos here and there of other activities that are not blog-updation:
Also, I’ve been working on an illustration, it’s not finished yet but here’s a little piece of the puzzle:
As promised, I present to you some better quality photographs of the new place. All paint was the decision of someone else (yes, even the lovely mango colored living room). As I mentioned in my last post, nesting has yet to fully occur but I feel these photos convey a general sense of how kickass the space is:
The Living room:
The Bedroom:
The Kitchen and Dining Room (my faves):
I’m pretty in love with the place, it’s got a lot of the quirks of an old house, but overall I think I’ll feel right at home here. If you would like to give me a very generous house warming gift of oh, say a tasty bottle of wine or chic floor lamp I’d be VERY receptive.
I’m writing from my HUGE new bedroom full of boxes/trunks/fans/piles of things. It is so hot in Knasas City right now I can scarcely find the energy to do anything, let alone nest. Also, I may have had a birthday in there to keep me distracted/hungover/recovering. But seriously, I’ve never had a bedroom this big in my whole life. Tis rad. Down side is I still need to find a dresser or two to make this place look less like a 19 year old boy-man’s dormroom. Le sigh:
Looking at these photos I am realizing just how yellow everything in here is. Way too cheery. Peee-uke. But like I said, I’m still nesting. Soon this place will reflect my battered soul’s inner weeping. (Sorrys, my goth just came out a little.)
Moments of contemplation + sweat glisten because IT’S TOO DAMN HOT!:
I watched Hackers in bed tonight (first movie watched in the new place!!!) and I leave you with this song in remembrance of the 90′s:
In an attempt to make Monday more bearable, I’ve been doing a little something I like to call new music Monday. I believe it’s more or less self explanatory. Here’s some new acquisitions:
Amon Tobin – Bloodstone EP
Tokyo Police Club – Elephant Shell
Marco Benevento – Between the Needles & Nightfall
St. Vincent – Actor
But….. I’ve already broke tradition today by having a “new makeup Monday”… because I say so. The disruption of regularly scheduled music buying is mostly due to Sephora’s generosity (they give me a birthday “present” with my purchase). Regardless, I’ll be reinstating new music Monday next week and would love some suggestions if you have any.
And now I give you my attempt at writing my initials with the light of my cell phone via long exposure:
And on an immensely exciting final note, I (literally) just received word that the man friend and I have been approved for our new living quarters. Papers shall be signed on Thursday and we move in the 1st. The future is now bitches. Pictures shall appear as I snap them.
Eat your hearts out,
mpL
