I said I would post photos of food items cooked over the course of “Eat-in January” and since I’m a woman of my word, I give you highlights to feed your food porn addiction, you dirty bird:
Kale Hash: packed full of all the tasty bits your body needs + your taste buds will sing in delight
Pizza from scratch: this is a very rewarding dish, you’ll feel like a million bucks when it tastes like a million bucks. I followed this recipe for the crust. BTW, less is more when it comes to sauce.
Huevos Rancheros: Easy breakfast you can throw together in minutes. We always have black beans on hand for huevos emergencies.
Steak and Vegetable Pie: Holy fuck, this was AMAZING. I very loosely followed this recipe. Threw in dried herbs as I pleased and the result was such a delight.
Taco customizables for our “walking tacos” party. If you are unfamiliar with the ambulatory taco, it might be for the best, but if you’d like to learn more click here.
Fun Fact: Arthur Bryant’s delicious meat candy was our first venture back out into the wild and untamed restaurant world. Noms.
Eat your hearts out babies,

It’s been a minute, eh? New year, new excuses not to blog, I’m sure you all understand…
As you may recall, the man friend and I have fearlessly resolved to not eat out for the entire month of January and it’s been going mostly swimmingly. We did include one caveat for special events and we have had to break TWICE! Japanese food with a friend from outta town and steak with my delightfully pregnant friend (when a pregnant lady wants to go out for meat candy YOU DO NOT SAY NO). In atonement we decided to tack an extra week on, extending the joys of “Eat-In January” to February thus making up for our delicious sins.
I really should have been documenting our culinary adventures of the month, but I get so wrapped up in cooking that I forget how much I love to shoot food porn. Sads.
“Eat-In January” has led to an enormous amount of homebody-ism SOOOO… since I can’t really show you what I’ve been eating I can at least show you where I’ve been eating it. Almost evens out rrriiiiggghhhttttt??? It’s a conciliatory offering mm-kay:

Placated, aren’t you. I hope to Jeebus you ate your lilly hearts out,

As I mentioned in my last post, I threw a little NYE bash at the Shangri-Lounge. I feel my efforts were met with wild success: 2011 was rung in with good friends, hors d’oeuvres, a glitter cannon, dancing, cup-and-ball, list making, fire crackers and bottles and bottles of champagne. New years day hangovers were then soothed with an elaborate pajama-fest filled with pillows, snuggles, snuggies, m&ms and the viewing of 2 cinematic masterpieces: Clue and Inception. Plus, a good luck smorgasbord of black eyed peas, greens and roasted pork loin and potatoes (SO GOOD). Since it was so fun last time I made SOME MORE digital collages of the party pictures my boy Jeffy-Pop took:

Unpictured: A NEW! NYE tradition, The Gherkin Toss. This year the toss was deftly performed by pitcher: Lindsay and catcher (and birthday girl!!), Jessica. Nicely done, ladies, your physical prowess shall be fondly mused upon throughout 2011.
Here’s to you 2011, I’m gonna lick your eyeballs and make you my prom date. Eat your hearts out, y’all,

It’s that time again, squirrels, the death rattles of 2010 are intensifying, inspiring humans everywhere to reminisce upon another year passed. I found 2010 to be pretty even keel, not too whirlwind crazy, not too deathly boring. I did the best job of pretending to be a grown-up to date. It was a year of making commitments to myself and actually keeping a small amount of them. And probably (hopefully?) more personal growth than I realize. Oh, shit you guys! It’s Memory lane; stroll with me, won’t you?

For starters I began this here blog. I cut off my man friend’s enormous dread locks, cooked some amazing foods, bleached my hair with pretty decent success, started caring about art again.

I made a pilgrimage to The House on the Rock, rubbed my Kansas City stench all over Madison, Wisconson and Davenport, Iowa.

I buzzed my own hair into a mohawk, went to some amazing shows, shacked up with my man friend at the Shangri-Lounge, began documenting my style when I felt it was exceptional.

Spent a weekend at the Lake of the Ozarks pushing my body to the limits and exploring ruins and caverns.

2011′s to-do list:
- Travel more
- Be less of a bloody homebody
- Exit my comfort zone at least once a week
- Try a new type of produce a least once a month
- Eat in the ENTIRE month of January
- Buy less
- Purge the unneeded
- Redesign this here Fancy Blog
- Put the shoulder to the wheel and take 2011 by the balls
ANYHOW, I’ve got a NYE party to plan, sooooo… See you on the other side and don’t forget to eat your hearts out,

Here I am, sitting at work, wishing there were something good to eat around this godless pit. Sooooo, I’ve decided to reminisce upon my recent foods. You know, good food prepared in the comfort of home, not full of the organ preserving sludge they serve in food courts. It promises to be a feast for the eyes at the very least and food porn at the very most, join me won’t you?
Roasted fall vegetables. I wish my blog had scratch ‘n sniff so you could all know just how good this smelled while it was cooking.
The insides of a Saturday morning omelet. So fresh. So delicious.
Udon noodle soup packed with carrots, mushrooms, spinach, tofu and much, much more!
Nothing says “hey we’re all friends, right?” like getting together, throwing an adorable suckling pig in a fiery pit, barbarically butchering it and eating the result. It was delicious beyond words. In Pork We Trust.
Eat your hearts out,
